To-Do Manager MCP Server
Model Context Protocol server for task management
TypeScriptNext.jsMCPRedisVercel
Problem
Most MCP server examples are stateless demos. An AI assistant calling a task-management tool needs real persistence — and needs old, stale tasks to clean themselves up rather than accumulating forever.
Architecture
A Next.js app exposing MCP tool endpoints that Claude Desktop (or any MCP client) can call directly, backed by Redis for storage. Documented with concrete curl examples so the API can be tested independently of an MCP client.
Key decisions
- —Redis specifically for its native TTL support — auto-expiring to-dos without a separate cleanup job or cron.
- —Deployed on Vercel with the same CI/CD pattern used across other projects — push to deploy, no manual step.
Still being written up
Currently single-list — worth adding multi-user support if this were to handle more than one person's tasks.
